DCS Netlink has been a WatchGuard Certified Training company for many years now. Our instructors work day in and day out with the WatchGuard product line, supporting customers of all sizes around the nation. We train our students from experience rather than book knowledge. When not teaching, our instructors help customers fine tune their firewalls, diagnose problems, as well as help engineer new solutions on a daily basis. We teach how to use your WatchGuard firewall and all of its features, but more importantly we teach the "why" you would use this feature. Will this feature negatively impact my company operations? How can I use this feature to lock down my computers more effectively? What does this checkmark or button do? Where would I use it? How can I accomplish what my CEO is asking of me?

WatchGuard Firewalling Basics with Fireware
Our WatchGuard Firewalling basics with Fireware class covers just about every feature of the WatchGuard Firebox X Core and X Peak! This is a single 3-day course, that also encompasses the VPN training. It is jam packed with hands on labs, and in depth explanations of the features of the WatchGuard Firewall. It doesn't matter your amount of WatchGuard specific knowledge that you currently have, everyone learns something from this class! Modules include: Introduction, Architecture, Navigation, Basics, Logging, Network, NAT, Authentication, Policies, Proxies, Monitor, Report, Defenses, IPS, Antivirus, MUVPN, SpamBlocker, Managed BOVPN, Maunal BOVPN, and Centralized Management.

Each student in our Firewalling Basics with Fireware class, works through the entire featureset of the WatchGuard Firebox, from initial setup to creating scheduled reports. We provide a firewall, laptop, student guides, and a custom Firewalling Basics addendum written by DCS Netlink filled with tips, tricks, and other resources that will help you in your day to day job. We encourage students to bring in network maps of their systems, as well as a copy of their firewall config files. After class we will spend one on one time with students, reviewing their networks, as well as making recommendations how to lock down their firewall more effectively. When in our classes we view our time as your time, and it is not uncommon to have students hang out until late in the evenings. Believe it or not, students have actually brought in their WatchGuard firewalls, and re-programmed them after hours to match up to what the student has learned during the day!
We also can provide test keys for students that are interested in becoming WatchGuard Certified. There is an additional cost for the keys however.

Virtual Private Networking (VPN)
Our VPN class is a one day class, that is included within the Firewalling Basics with Fireware, but is a seperate course from the Firewalling Basics with WFS. Students not only learn about VPNs, but we also deploy them in the classroom. Students learn what a VPN is, how to deploy VPN's effectively within their environments, as well as VPN troubleshooting skills and concepts. We start out with the basics as to what is Public Key Infrastructure, roll into manually creating VPN tunnels, using VPN Manager, as well as the software VPN options of the WatchGuard Firewall such as mobile user VPN and PPTP tunnels. With the WatchGuard Firewall, once you understand the concepts, creating, maintaining and troubleshooting VPN tunnel problems can be a snap!

As always DCS Netlink inserts value added content into our VPN class. Before you leave this class you will solidly understand extremely deep concepts such as the difference between ESP and AH, we get deep into how a VPN tunnel fires up, how main mode and aggressive modes are different, as well as DH groups 1, 2 and how PFS works. VPN's are littered with acronyms, it is now time to understand what is behind the acronyms, and how that impacts you! We bring these concepts to the class so that you can make educated decisions as to which VPN is right for you. Setting up and troubleshooting VPNs becomes much easier when you can understand what you are looking at.

We at DCS Netlink have a true passion for Internet Security, and we LOVE the WatchGuard product line. We truly enjoy our work, and that flows into our classes and enhances student experience. Internet security is a serious topic in today's environment, but we can also have fun while learning more! We love teaching, and to our instructors there is nothing more satisfying than seeing that light come on in a students eyes the first time a complex topic is finally understood. During our classes we demonstrate and talk on all kinds of Internet security topics that extend beyond the WatchGuard Firewall boundaries, but impact us every day. You will see port probe tools, watch attacks as they hit your firewall, talk about topics such as "packet sniffing", and gain valuable information as to where you can go for more information.
